Trackman

Trackmen are the core of every gang. The role is physical, outdoors, and hands-on, and it is where most people start a railway career with Ironhorse.
Long days outside in all weather, working as part of a crew on rotations away from home during the construction season. Training on equipment and railway rules happens on the job.

Typical work
- Assist with track materials, tools, and work-site preparation
- Carry out assigned tie, rail, fastening, and maintenance tasks
- Follow site briefings and communicate conditions to the foreman
- Operate hand tools and small track equipment as trained
- Keep the work site clean and clear before handback
What to bring

- Relevant safety tickets and tools or equipment used
- Home region, availability, and willingness to travel
Assets
- Prior railway or heavy civil experience
- Valid driver's licence
- First aid or other safety certifications
